In "Automatic Generation"  method, design rationales are automatically generated from an execution history at low cost.
One advantage of Toulmin model is that it uses words and concepts which can be easily understood by most people. In these systems, the designer creates the design and the DR system generates the rationale for it based on the system's stored knowledge.
This allows for non-intrusive capture.
But it's hard to design such a schema. Another advantage of informal representation is that the rationale stored can be in the original format found in the natural byproducts of the design process.
